The story

Sri Venkateswara National Park covers about 353 sq km on the edge of Tirupati and extends into the Kadapa and Chittoor areas. It is a biosphere reserve and contains three waterfalls, Talakona, Gundalakona and Gunjana; Talakona is the highest waterfall in Andhra Pradesh. Trekking routes cross the park, and electric cars and bicycles can be hired.

The park is known for Cycas beddomei, a palm-like evergreen often called a living fossil that grows only in this region, along with red sanders, sandalwood and other rare plants. Its animals include the slender loris, the golden gecko, the stump-tailed macaque, tigers, leopards, elephants, spotted deer, sambar, four-horned antelope and many birds.
