01 — About

About Talakona Waterfalls

Talakona Waterfall lies in the forested Eastern Ghats in Tirupati district. Several hill streams join to form the fall, which drops about 270 feet into a natural pool of green water at its foot, where visitors swim or sit by the falls. The surrounding hills are covered in dense forest and rugged ground.

The waterfall carries a body of local belief. Its water is said to have been blessed by saints and sages and to have healing and purifying power, which draws devotees as well as walkers. Folklore also speaks of old sages and strange creatures in the nearby woods, and of Yakshas who are believed to guard the falls.
