The story

Sri Sri Kalika Maharani Temple stands at Kalika Vihar in Chira Chas, Bokaro, and is dedicated to the goddess Kali. Built by Aashiyaan Estate Developers on about half an acre, it took under three years from the start of work in July 2010 and opened to the public on 14 July 2012; the township of Kalika Vihar is named after it. A nine-day Ramayana recital and a yagna preceded the foundation, and workers digging it found an Indian cobra, taken as a good omen.

The two-storey building follows a pentagonal plan modelled on a five-petalled lotus, each petal holding an entrance, and its stupa-like spire rises over 90 feet; the temple is more than 160 feet long. Kali's image is on the first floor, above a basement hall of over 4,000 sq ft for prayers and yagyas. A small Hanuman shrine stands at the entrance, and there is seating and parking for visitors.
