The story

Ramapuram Devi Temple is the chief landmark of Ramapuram, a small village in Karthikappally taluk of Alappuzha district, beside National Highway 66 about 7 kilometres from Haripad and 8 kilometres from Kayamkulam. It is counted among the oldest and most important temples of Travancore. The goddess, Ramapurathamma, is regarded as the royal deity of the Odanadu dynasty, and worship is offered to Lalithaparameswari seated on the Sri Chakra and to Bhadrakali, who is revered for prosperity and salvation.

The temple stands at the centre of three karas, or territories: Ramapuram South, Ramapuram Centre and Ramapuram North. Its festivals are Vrishchika Bharani, Kumbha Bharani and Makara Ashwathi in the Malayalam calendar. The closest railway stations are at Haripad and Kayamkulam, with a halt at Cheppad.
