Patit Pavan Mandir in Ratnagiri was built between 1929 and 1931 for the Ratnagiri Hindu Sabha. Vinayak Damodar Savarkar asked for it, and the local philanthropist Bhagoji Baloji Keer paid for it himself. A Marathi inscription on the entrance archway, dated 24 February 1931, records that the temple of Shri Patit Pavan was built for all Hindus and dedicated to public service.
The historian Raosaheb Kasabe summed up the partnership: the idea was Savarkar's, the money Keer's. Keer later gave ₹1,500 a year to maintain and light the temple, and the Hindu Mahasabha set up a bust of him in the courtyard during his lifetime. In 2025 a state Class 8 history textbook credited Savarkar alone with building the temple; after objections citing the gateway inscription and a 1933 trust audit, the textbook bureau promised corrected wording for the 2025–26 school year.
