The story

Pariyanampatta Bhagavathi Temple, dedicated to Bhagavathy, is counted among the largest Devi temples of the Valluvanad region in Palakkad district. Its goddess is known as the deity of 14 desams, and the temple and its surroundings are said to resemble those of the Mookambika temple at Kollur.

Pooram is the chief festival, beginning with the flag hoisting on the first of Kumbham and held on the day the moon rises with the Pooram star in Medam. The Moorthiyaatom on the eve of Pooram is particular to this temple, and Vela falls before the Pooram star in Makaram. Vishuvilakku is celebrated on the first of Medam, laksharchana is offered through Karkidakam, and Karthika Vilakku comes in Vrischikam. The climax of the Mohanlal film Devasuram was shot entirely at the temple.
