Pampa Sarovar is a small sacred lake in Koppal district, south of the Tungabhadra near Hampi, tucked into a valley among the hills on the Hospet–Anegundi road, about a kilometre from the foot of the Hanuman temple hill. Hindus count it among the five holy lakes, the Panch Sarovar, alongside Mansarovar, Bindu, Narayan and Pushkar.
Scripture holds that Pampa, a form of Parvati, did penance here to prove her devotion to Shiva. In the Ramayana it is the place to which Shabari, the aged disciple of the sage Matanga, sent Rama on his way south to find Sugriva and the help he needed to rescue Sita. A Lakshmi temple and a Shiva temple face the water, and a small Ganesha shrine sits under a mango tree beside it.
