The story

Neelkantheshwar is a Hindu temple to Shiva in the town of Pali, Lalitpur district, set in a green, hilly part of northern India. Its image of Shiva is unusual for having three heads and is regarded as one of Shiva's avatars. People in the surrounding area believe the idol emerged from the mountain on its own and that the temple was later built around it.

The temple's biggest occasion is Maha Shivaratri, observed as the day Shiva married Parvati. A large fair is held for the festival every year, and devotees gather for a procession on the day.
