The story

Naseem Bagh is a Mughal garden on the north-western side of Dal Lake, near Srinagar. Laid out by the emperor Akbar in 1586, it ranks among the oldest Mughal gardens in Kashmir. Shah Jahan is credited with planting more than 1,200 chinar trees here.

Around 700 chinars still stand. The garden belongs to the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department and has been developed by the University of Kashmir as the Chinar Heritage Park. It is visited mostly in autumn, from September to December.
