The story

Narasimha Temple stands in the Gosagaresvara precinct in Bhubaneswar, to the south-east of the Gosagaresvara and Paradaresvara Shiva temples, and shares the traditions and legends of Gosagaresvara. Its architecture places it in the 14th or 15th century. The Sanisvara Siva temple lies to its west and Isanesvara to the north-east.

The west-facing shrine is a pancharatha pidha temple about 3.4 m tall, raised on a low pista. Inside, a four-armed Narasimha sits on a pedestal, holding a conch and a discus in his upper hands while the main pair slay the demon; a row of female figures with joined palms runs along the foot of the pedestal. The sanctum also holds a loose sandstone lingam and a detached four-armed Ganesha. The Orissa State Archaeology department has repaired the temple, people living nearby maintain it, and it is in good condition.
