The story

Muringamangalam Sreemahadevar Temple lies half a kilometre from Konni Junction in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala. It is more than a thousand years old and once belonged to the Pandalam royal family. No temple east of Pathanamthitta is bigger, and it is the largest Shiva temple in the district.

The main deity is Lord Shiva, who faces east, and Ganapathi, Ayyappa, the Nagas and Krishna are also installed. The Krishna shrine is a recent addition: it was set up after a Devaprasnam indicated his presence, which was attributed to the continuous Bhagavatha Sapthaham recitals held at the temple.
