Mangal Dham is a large Hindu temple in Kalimpong dedicated to Lord Krishna and raised as a memorial to Guruji Shri Mangaldasji Maharaj. The complex spreads over roughly two acres and is among the better-known religious sites of the West Bengal hills, drawing both devotees and sightseers.
The prayer hall shows images of Raj Shyamji, Prannathji and the guru himself. On the top floor a sanctum illustrates scenes such as Nijanandacharya Shri Devchandraji meeting Krishna and Prannathji blessing Bundela Chhatrasal Maharaj, while paintings and miniature models elsewhere tell episodes of the Krishna Leela. The temple's teaching rests on three values: knowledge, loyalty and charity.
The guru is said to have been refused land at first when he sought to build a Krishna temple. His followers went ahead using local materials and traditional building methods, and also set up a school and an orphanage for the community.
