Mahakali Lake is a high-altitude lake in Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh, lying between the villages of Sano and Gudial at about 4,080 metres. The water stays frozen for around six months, from November to April.
The lake is held sacred to the goddess Mahakali. Close by is another lake, Ghadhasaru, which has a small temple to the goddess Kali on its shore.
