The story

Laxmangarh Fort is a ruined hill fort in the town of Laxmangarh, Sikar district, Rajasthan, about 30 km from Sikar. Rao Raja Lakshman Singh of Sikar built it in 1805, after Kan Singh Saledhi laid siege to the prosperous town, and in 1807 he founded the settlement of Laxmangarh in his own name. The fort is now owned by the Jhunjhunwala family.

It is the most imposing building in Laxmangarh, rising over the neatly planned town on its west side. Its unusual feature is that its walls are built on top of scattered, massive boulders. The fort also appears as a prominent symbol in Aravind Adiga's novel The White Tiger, winner of the 2008 Man Booker Prize.
