The story

Kurumbalakotta is a monolith hillock in Kottathara panchayat, Vythiri taluk, at the centre of Wayanad district. Venniyode is the closest small town, and the hill lies about 20 km from Kalpetta, reached by road through Kambalakkad junction. It reaches 991 m above sea level and is part of the Deccan Plateau, where the Western and Eastern Ghats meet.

The summit gives a full view across the Wayanad plateau, and the misty hills and valleys around it make the walk up a pleasant one for trekkers. In July 2024 the hill was struck by a major landslide.
