The story

Kotasattemma Temple is a Hindu pilgrimage centre at Nidadavolu in Andhra Pradesh, devoted to the goddess Kotasattemma. Its story begins in the Chalukya period, when a temple to her was built by Chalukya Veerabhadra, the husband of Rudrama Devi.

In the time of the Reddy dynasty the idol was lost through a series of calamities. It surfaced again in 1934, when Devulapalli Rama Murthy Sastri found it on his own land, and he went on to build the present temple to house it.
