The story

Golala Mamidada, also written Gollala Mamidada or G. Mamidada, is a temple town in Kakinada district, set among mango groves on the Tulyabhaga River. Its name means 'big mango garden'. The town is known for its Kodandarama Temple and for a second shrine, the Sri Suryanarayana Swamy Temple, where the Sun God is worshipped.

The Kodandarama Temple has a west gopuram of 11 storeys, about 210 feet high, and an east gopuram of 9 storeys, about 170 feet high. Both carry carvings from the Ramayana, the Bhagavad Gita and other Hindu texts. Its first floor is lined with mirrors arranged to create optical illusions, and the silver idols sit in glass enclosures.
