The story

Kalammawadi Dam is a gravity dam on the Dudhaganga river near Radhanagari, at the village of Kalammawadi, also called Dudhaganga Nagar. The biggest dam in Kolhapur district, it was started by the state government in 1983 and finished in 1999. It stands 73.08 metres above its lowest foundation, is 1,280 metres long, and feeds left and right irrigation canals as well as three hydroelectric generators beneath the dam.

The dam sits against a backdrop of thick forest with a rich biodiversity, including the gaur, India's endangered bison. Kolhapur Tourism lists locations for outings in the area, and the goddess Kalamma Devi has a temple here.
