The Siddhagiri Gramjivan Museum at Kaneri, near Kolhapur, is devoted to traditional village life in Maharashtra. Its seven-acre campus holds more than 80 models of houses and other buildings drawn from different parts of the state, each showing a regional way of building and living. It was created by the Siddhagiri Gurukul Foundation, which describes it as fulfilling a wish of Mahatma Gandhi.
To assemble the collection, the foundation's team visited villages across Maharashtra and gathered objects of everyday use. Visitors walk through a replica village and see farm implements, handicrafts and musical instruments, along with demonstrations of old farming methods. Music and dance programmes and craft workshops are held, and traditional handicrafts are sold on site.
