The story

Kakatiya Zoological Park, also called Warangal Zoo or Warangal Vana Vignana Kendram, is in Hanamkonda in Telangana. The Warangal district administration built it to conserve wildlife, and it opened to the public in 1985 as a place for both learning and recreation. In 2010 the Central Zoo Authority of India directed that it be upgraded into a national zoological park, a change planned for 2013.

The zoo covers 50 acres and keeps birds, mammals and reptiles, among them bears, leopards, deer, golden jackals, jungle cats, ostriches, rheas, peafowl, tortoises and crocodiles. There is also a butterfly park. Kazipet Junction, about 7 km away, is the closest railway station, and TSRTC and private buses serve the area.
