The story

Hingolgarh Nature Education Sanctuary lies in the Jasdan area and covers about 654 hectares of dry deciduous forest and grassland. It is managed by the GEER Foundation (Gujarat Ecological Education and Research), which holds roughly 50 to 100 nature education camps here each monsoon, so it is a common destination for student groups.

Over 230 bird species have been recorded, from peafowl to migratory waterfowl, and early morning and evening are the best times to see them. Mammals include chinkara, nilgai, jackals, foxes, hyenas and jungle cats, and guided walks explain the ecology of the area. Wankaner is about 40 km away and Rajkot about 85 km.
