The story

Gurudwara Guru Nanak Dham is a Sikh place of worship in the town of Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. It was built to commemorate a visit to Rameswaram by Guru Nanak, the first Sikh guru, in about 1511.

In 2005 Surjit Singh Barnala, then Governor of Tamil Nadu, came here and assured the priests of help with repairs and enlargement, and the gurdwara has been developed since. Sikhs are few in Rameswaram, so it is run by Sri Guru Nanak Sat Sangh Sabha Gurdwara in Chennai.
