The story

Palai Park, at Achadiparambu in Ramanathapuram district, is one of two Genetic Heritage Gardens in the state of Tamil Nadu, the other being Kurinji Park at Yercaud. It takes its name from Palai, the dry landscape that is one of the five landscapes described in ancient Sangam literature. The Tamil Nadu Horticulture Development Agency developed it, Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa opened it, and the Department of Horticulture and Plantation Crops looks after it.

The garden has lawns, sand dunes, a small pond and an oasis, along with a nursery, a children's play area, a podium, gazebos and a food court.
