01 — The story

The story

Guru Nanak Taposthan is a gurdwara in Mechuka honouring Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism. It marks the place where he is believed to have meditated during his journey to Tibet, and stories kept at the site connect his visit with the revival of the local Memba community.

Devotees from across India come here, and the gurdwara runs a langar that serves meals to visitors. Its hilltop setting gives wide views over the Mechuka Valley, with the Siyom River flowing below and hot springs in the surrounding area.
