The story

Griddharaj Parvat, whose name means hill of vultures and which is also known as Griddhakut Parvat, Giddhaila Pahar or Vulture Peak, rises to 717.5 m near Devrajnagar village in Ramnagar tehsil, 8 km from Ramnagar town and some 65 km south of Satna in Madhya Pradesh. The hill sits with the Maikal Hills to its south and the Kaimur Range to its north, and is valued for its religious, archaeological and ecological importance.

A survey by the archaeology department of Awadhesh Pratap University recorded rock paintings here from the Chalcolithic period. They give a detailed picture of how people of that age lived, what they ate and how they spent their days.
