Godachinamalaki Falls, also called Markandeya Falls, is on the Markandeya river near Godachinamalaki village in Gokak taluk, Belagavi district, 15 kilometres from Gokak and 40 from Belagavi. It sits in a deep, rugged valley reached from the village on foot or by vehicle along roughly 2 kilometres of rough forest track, either over a bridge on the Malebail road or past the Gurusiddeshwar (Hatti Siddeshwar) temple; a footpath also comes in from Nirvaneshwara Matha near Yogikolla.
There are in fact two falls. The river first plunges about 25 metres into a rocky valley, then a little further on drops again, about 20 metres. It later joins the Ghataprabha near Gokak, and Gokak Falls is 10 kilometres away. Buses run frequently from Belagavi and Gokak, Pachhapur station is about 8 kilometres off, and June to September is given as the best season.
