Goa Fort stands at Harne, about 15 km from Dapoli in Ratnagiri district, and is one of three forts raised to protect the sea fort of Suvarnadurg; the others are Kanakdurg and Fattegad. Little of its history is recorded, but in 1862 it was said to hold 19 cannons and a garrison of 200 men.
Today it is the main sight in Harne village and lies within walking distance of the town, with a wide road running up to its entrance. Of its two gates, one faces inland and the other the sea. Sculptures decorate the walls, and the ruins of the collector's rest house remain inside. A walk around the whole fort takes about half an hour.
