The Garden of Fragrance in Sector 36 of Chandigarh opened in 1998 and is planted for scent rather than show. Its beds hold aromatic species such as Damask rose, frangipani (champa), raat ki rani jasmine and Arabian jasmine, known locally as mogra, and winding paths lead past them.
A pond with lotus flowers lies at the centre of the garden, with room along its edge to sit among the greenery. The garden is in Chandigarh, the planned city designed by Le Corbusier that is capital to both Punjab and Haryana.
