The story

Gandhi Teerth in Jalgaon, home of the Gandhi Research Foundation, combines a museum and a centre for research on Mahatma Gandhi, and lies about 60 km from the Ajanta Caves. Founded by Bhavarlal Jain, it was inaugurated by President Pratibha Patil on 25 March 2012. The building is of Jodhpur stone and includes an auditorium, an amphitheatre, classrooms and guest houses, and it has won the GRIHA Adarsh Award.

The air-conditioned museum has 30 interactive sections with audiovisual displays, touch screens and a bioscope on Gandhi's life and work, and a guided, multilingual audio tour takes about two and a half hours. Researchers can use a library and archive of specially preserved historic documents, and a shop sells khadi, handmade gifts and Gandhian books.
