The story

Ferozepur Nallah, also called Shinmahinyu, is a mountain stream about 15 kilometres from Gulmarg. It flows through the valleys lying between Chinamarg and the Nurpur Pass, with tall pines and wide meadows along its banks, well away from the busier sights of the resort town.

The clear water holds trout, and anglers fish from the banks while others come simply to picnic beside the stream or photograph the light on the water and the surrounding peaks. The nallah also serves as the starting camp for the demanding Tosamaidan Trek, which heads into remote high country.
