The story

Devikulam is a small hill station in Idukki district, about 8 km from Munnar and some 1,800 metres above sea level. It is a grama panchayat of around 23,700 people.

The name joins Devi, the goddess, with kulam, a pond. According to local legend Sita of the Ramayana bathed in the lake here, which is now known as Sita Devi Lake and gives the town both its name and its best-known landmark. Lying only about 8 km from Munnar, it makes an easy side trip from that town.
