This Shiva temple stands in Tadipatri near the Penna River, about 4 km from the railway station. Pemmasani Ramalinga Nayudu I built it between 1490 and 1509, during the Vijayanagara period. Its self-manifested linga is kept wet by water from a natural spring that runs constantly, which explains the name, as bugga means spring in Telugu. The water gathers in a nearby pond, and local belief links it to the source of the Musi River.
The sanctum, half-open hall and front porch are set in one line, and the walls carry relief carvings from the Ramayana and Mahabharata. The linga faces west instead of east. Seven slender pillars give the seven notes of the scale when tapped, and the unfinished gopurams were praised by the historian James Anderson.
