Bhorgiri Fort stands near the village of Bhorgiri in Pune district, on a small hill set apart from the Bhimashankar hill. It lies about 95 km from Pune and some 45 km west of Rajgurunagar (Khed), the closest town, and the Bhima river and one of its small tributaries run along either side of the hill.
Little is recorded of its past. Like Padargad on the Karjat side, it seems to have served as a lookout over the old trade route between the Konkan and the Pune region, in this case from the Pune end. The buildings on top are now shrub-covered ruins, but the fort still has many caves, several Shiva lingas and a stone idol of Virabhadra.
