The story

The Beypore Lighthouse stands at Feroke in Kozhikode district, on the Chaliyam River's southern shore. Its six-sided tower is 30.48 m, or 100 feet, high and is painted in red and white bands.

The lighthouse was built in 1977, fitted with equipment supplied by J. Stone India of Calcutta, and began operating on 21 November that year. Its original incandescent lamp was replaced with a 400-watt metal halide lamp, and a direct drive system was added, in work completed on 30 July 1998.
