Banoti Waterfall, also called Dharkund Dhareshwar, lies in remote, empty country near the villages of Talner and Banoti in the Soegaon–Kannad area of Aurangabad district. Few people know of it, though it is a picturesque spot. Reaching it means a trek: about 3 km from Talner, approached via Kannad, or nearly 20 km from Banoti via Soegaon.
The fall is not large, about 20 ft wide and some 200 ft high, and it runs only in the monsoon. Its deeper interest is archaeological: beside it are the remains of a 5th-century Buddhist monastery, of the same age as the Ajanta caves, known mainly from scholarly references and impossible to reach without a climbing rope. The Nageshwar Mahadev temple at Talner is about 2 km away.
