The story

Bahuti Falls, also called Bahuti Prapat, is the highest waterfall in Madhya Pradesh, dropping 145 metres in Mauganj district, which was formerly part of Rewa. It is on the Nihai, also known as the Odda, as it pours over the edge of the Mauganj valley on its way to the Belan, a tributary of the Tons; some sources place it on the Sellar instead.

The falls sit on the north-eastern rim of the table-like Rewa Plateau, and like others in the region it is a nick point created by rejuvenation. The approach crosses rocky uplands, escarpments and small ghat sections of the Kaimur and Vindhyan hills, with red lateritic soils and seasonal streams. Wildlife seen around the falls includes hyena, nilgai, jackal, the Bengal monitor lizard, the Indian roller and the Indian grey hornbill.
