The story

Annakoteshwara Temple, also written Annakoteswar or Annakotisvara Siva Temple, stands at Latadeipur in Gondia tehsil, Dhenkanal district, Odisha, and is dedicated to Shiva. Judging by its construction, it is thought to date from around the 16th century, under Suryavamsi Gajapati rule.

The pancharatha temple has a rekha deula, or vimana, and a pidha deula, with khakharamundi and pidhamundi motifs along the main tower. Only a circular yonipeetha remains in the sanctum, as the linga was displaced during attacks by Kalapahad, a Muslim invader serving the nawabs of Bengal. Several detached sculptures are kept at the site, and the Archaeological Survey of India lists the temple as a monument.
