01 — The story

Anicad Sree Bhagavathi Temple sits on top of a hill at Anicad in Kottayam district, Kerala. Its goddess is Bhadrakali, worshipped here as Bala Bhadrakali, the young form of Kali. The image is installed as a mirror image and faces east, and Shiva, Muruga, Ganapathy and Sasthavu are present as sub-deities.

Three pujas are performed each day. The temple's chief festival is Kalamezhuthupaattu, which is held from Avittam through to Aswathy in Meenam, a month of the Malayalam calendar.
