The Sri Venkatesa Perumal Temple at Mondipalayam, known as Melathiruppathi, ranks among Kongu Nadu's well-known Vishnu temples. It lies off the Coimbatore–Sathyamangalam highway, 5 km to the east of Pasur on the Annur–Sathy road, about 30 km from Tirupur via Avinashi and 27 km from Sathyamangalam. Devotees who cannot travel to Tirupati may fulfil their vows to the lord of the seven hills here instead.
Tradition says one Kondamanaicker found the deity around 300 years ago after seeing his cow pour its milk on a sandhill; digging, he uncovered a self-formed image bearing a conch, discus and other emblems, flat on four sides and conical in the middle, and had a temple built for it. The east-facing temple stands amid four streets, with a flagstaff and Garuda at the entrance, and shrines to Venugopalaswamy, Chakrathazhwar, Hanuman, the Alvars, Ganesha, Alamelumangai Thayar and Andal around its prakaram.
