01 — The story

The story

The Vasona Lion Safari Park was created to conserve the Asiatic lion. Covering more than 20 acres, it keeps close watch on the growth and health of its lions, which live in a largely natural setting.

A safari of about 40 minutes takes visitors through the lion zone at low cost. That zone is closed off from the rest of the sanctuary by a wall seven metres tall and almost three kilometres long, built for safety and to keep the habitat undisturbed. Besides the lions, the park holds pythons and other reptiles, monkeys, deer and seasonal birds.
