Todgarh Raoli Wildlife Sanctuary was declared in 1983 and spreads over about 495 sq km of tropical deciduous forest and grassland where the Ajmer, Pali and Rajsamand areas meet. Leopards, sloth bears, Indian wolves, wild boar, chinkara and common langurs live here, and a 2013 count recorded more than 143 bird species, making it a good place for birdwatching.
An old Shiva temple in the sanctuary is shaded by banyan and tamarind trees, and leopards or bears are sometimes seen near it at night. The Katar Ghati road winds for about 4 km like a snake between Todgarh village and the Dudhaleshwar Temple, with wide views and a chance of meeting the same animals on the way.
