The story

Taglang La, also called Tanglang La, is a high pass at 5,328 metres in Leh district, on the Leh-Manali highway. Like Lachulung La and Bara-lacha La further south, it is to get a road and rail tunnel for the highway and the planned Bhanupli-Leh railway; when the line is complete, its station here at about 5,256 metres would be the highest in the world, above Tanggula in Tibet.

A signboard at the top gives its height, which agrees with satellite data. It was once billed as the world's second highest motorable pass, but several higher roads have since been built, and by 2015 it was ranked twelfth.
