The story

This Catholic church stands in Sundampatti village, Krishnagiri district, Tamil Nadu, and is known for its Tuesday evening mass. Catholics settled in the village between 1930 and 1940, and open-air mass was held here in 1963 by the Salem bishop.

A chapel built after a land purchase in 1969 was followed by the present church, begun in 1978 and completed on 16 January 1979. It became a parish church on 2 June 1998 and now serves 194 families. Its tower, first built in 1994, was demolished for road widening in 2004 and rebuilt in 2005, and an expanded church opened on 24 May 2015. The Capuchins run a counselling institute behind it.
