The story

Cauvery North Wildlife Sanctuary protects forest across two districts, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri, taking in parts of Palacode taluk in the Dharmapuri forest division and Denkanikottai taluk in the Hosur division. It takes its name from its position on the north side of the Kaveri, and across the river it joins Karnataka's Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary. The state government declared it on 12 March 2014.

The sanctuary lies in the Melagiri hills, where the Eastern and Western Ghats meet. This makes it an important wildlife corridor, linking the forests of the MM Hills and BR Hills with the Sathyamangalam Wildlife Sanctuary and the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve.
