Sitanagaram is a small town on the banks of the Krishna River, surrounded by green farmland. It is counted among the oldest settlements in Andhra Pradesh, with a history traced back to Vedic times, and it keeps a number of long-held customs and local legends.
The town has several temples and stretches of riverbank that can be walked, and its pace is slow compared with nearby cities. Kondapalli toys, figures made by hand by artisans of the area, are sold here and are a common keepsake for visitors.
