Siddhwat Temple, also spelt Siddhavat and known as the Shaktibhed shrine, stands on the bank of the Shipra river at Bhairavgarh in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. It is one of the places where the Kumbh Mela is held.
Worship here centres on three hopes, for children, for property and for virtue, with pujas for each. Rites are also performed for sadgati, the welfare of departed ancestors. Devotees once tied threads on the banyan tree when praying for property, and those hoping for a child make a reversed swastika. The neighbouring village of Bhairavgarh has for centuries been famed for tie-and-dye.
