The Samibrukshya Hills rise close to Bhimkund in Mayurbhanj. Local tradition links them to the Mahabharata: during their years of exile, the Pandavas are believed to have concealed their weapons here inside a Sami tree, which gives the hills their name.
The slopes are green and scattered with unusual rock formations. Walking trails cross the hills and give wide views, and sunrise and sunset over the ridges are popular with photographers. The quiet setting also draws people for birdwatching, yoga and meditation, and the hills are usually visited together with Bhimkund and Devkund.
