The story

Our Lady of Fatima Church, also called Kallukoottam R.C. Church, is a Catholic parish church in the town panchayat of Kallukoottam, in the Karankadu vicariate of the Diocese of Kuzhithurai. It began in 1951 as a Bhajan Kurusady, a shed of thatch for Christmas carols. A decade later its 18 families, led by Anthony Muthu, became a substation of the parish at Mankuzhi.

Over the years the building changed from a thatched house to a concrete church holding about 400 people. It became an independent parish in 2008, and a community hall and new presbytery followed in 2013 and 2014. A charismatic prayer service with Adoration is held on the last Friday of each month, and the Kolping Society promotes chemical-free home gardens among families here.
