The story

The Nava Toran Temple stands at Khor in Jawad tehsil, Neemuch district. Dating from the eleventh century, it is dedicated to Varaha, the third avatar of Vishnu. Its name joins nav, nine, with toran.

Its defining feature is a double row of ten ornamental arches. Their ornament includes leaf-shaped borders, makara heads and figures carrying garlands. A local story says a tunnel under the temple runs all the way to Chittor Fort, and that Maharana Pratap would come through it to worship here.
