The story

Narsobawadi, also known as Nrusinhawadi, is a pilgrimage village near Kolhapur whose temple is dedicated to Dattatreya, the deity who unites Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. The shrine stands where the Panchganga joins the Krishna, and bathing at this confluence is believed to wash away sins.

The temple's sanctity goes back to the 15th century, when Shri Nrusinha Saraswati, a central figure of the Datta tradition and regarded as an incarnation of Dattatreya, stayed here for twelve years. Devotees also visit the nearby Kedareshwar temple of Shiva, held to be a spot where Dattatreya meditated, and attend the daily aarti. Stalls in the complex sell incense, flowers and images of the deity.
